For instance, certain eyelid and periocular issues can affect a person’s appearance as well as their vision, eye comfort, and eye health.
Oculoplastic surgeon undergoes 3 years of residency training in ophthalmology learning about health of the eye and eye surgery; followed by additional 2-3 years of training in oculoplastic surgery which quite literally means plastic surgery around the eyes. Following this many surgeons, like Dr Adulkar, may chose to train internationally to be able to offer world class care and state of art techniques to the patients. This puts an oculoplastic surgeon in an unique position to meticulously perform plastic and reconstructive procedures around the eyes while taking care of patients vision and eye health. Dr. Namrata Adulkar is an experienced ophthalmologist specialising in ophthalmic plastic and reconstructive surgery, with expertise and advanced training from some of the world’s best eye institutions.
An alumnus of the prestigious Seth G S Medical College and KEM Hospital, Mumbai; Dr. Namrata Adulkar completed her ophthalmology residency training from Sankara Nethralaya, Chennai, a center that has trained some of the finest eye surgeons in the country. As a fellow under various programs she gained advanced training in Oculoplastics, Orbital Surgery, Oculofacial Aesthetics and Ocular Oncology. She has trained and worked in faculty position at Aravind Eye Hospital, Madurai and gained immense experience in her niche subspecialty. She was honoured with international fellowship at University of British Columbia, Vancouver Canada, where she pursued a year-long surgical training mastering orbital & lacrimal surgery, cosmetic eyelid surgery and nuances of thyroid eye disease under the mentorship of Dr Peter Dolman.
